Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Accounts Payable Technician II, under direct supervision, prepares and pays vendor invoices for Calista Corporation and its subsidiaries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Receive and prepare invoices for payment.
• Code invoices to proper company, prepare for data entry
• Review invoices for terms to ensure accuracy, and direct to applicable manager for approval.
• Collect approved invoices and process timely to avoid late penalties.
• Run applicable reports from Deltek to review for accuracy and route for supervisor to post.
• Run a pre-payment report to review for accuracy.
• Prepare tax deposits, book transfers, and ACH vouchers.
• Maintain A/P filing.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
• Knowledge of accounts payable and invoicing processes and terminology
• Ability to perform tasks related to payable processing.
• Ability to process a high volume of data with accuracy and meet various deadlines.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations.
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
• Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal communication methods.
• Proficient with standard business computers and application.
• Advanced knowledge and skills in computerized accounting systems and knowledge of company-specific software.
• Ability to type 45 wpm and 10-key by touch.
• Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information.
• Ability to use good judgment and discretion.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field, or Accounting certificate/education from a vocational or technical school; and,
• Minimum of three years’ accounts payable experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and accounting/accounts payable experience.
• Working knowledge of government contracts preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Deltek Costpoint or other integrated software experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a drug, background, and credit check.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The Accounting Department is a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment requiring regular attendance. Work may require occasional overtime.
