Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Subsidiary Controller in Anchorage, AK. This position assists the Controller in providing day-to-day management, leadership, direction, coordination and supervision of the accounting department. The Subsidiary Controller works with the Controller to provide and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, oversee corporate compliance with policies and regulations, and generally help to meet and achieve company’s financial goals. This position will directly supervise accounting staff(s).
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
 Responsible for all aspects of general ledger accounting of assigned companies, including monthly journal entries, monthly reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers, monthly bank reconciliations, monthly accruals and reversals, fixed asset accounting, and monthly revenue recognition analysis.
Assist the Controller with:
 Supervising, leading, and motivating the Corporate Accounting Department.
 Maintaining financial records, systems, and accounts.
 Managing cash accounts and systems.
 Reviewing and Approving Adjusting Journal Entries.
 Preparing and reviewing subsidiary and consolidated financial reports.
 Setting up new companies and indirect pools in Costpoint.
 Participate in the preparation of annual internal and corporate budgets.
 Coordinating the preparation of annual DCAA-ICE reports and audits as assigned and other compliance audits
 Providing a system for management cost reports.
 Interacting with other departments to provide financial information as required.
 Assisting as needed on proposals and contract review
 Recommending, implementing, and enforcing Company accounting policies.
 Maintaining and implementing internal controls, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, FARS, CASB, and other regulations as appropriate (i.e., SCA, DBA, DCAA).
 Complying with federal, state, local laws and other requirements related to financial reporting and taxation (i.e., IRS, DOL).
 Act as liaison for external and internal auditors.
 Assist in reviews of all the financial aspects of the acquisition or disposal of property and investments.
 Provide technical financial advice and direction to others within the financial/accounting discipline of the organization.
 Performing various analyses or special projects at the direction of the Controller, Finance Director and CFO.
Required (Minimum) Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
 Minimum of Five (5) years of accounting experience including public accounting, government contracting, or multi-company accounting.

 CPA or CMA certificate (or imminent CPA/CMA candidates).
 Ten (10) or more years of diversified accounting experience with increasing levels of supervisory experience.
 Familiarity and or experience with the new revenue standards.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 Deltek Costpoint and COGNOS accounting software, and Adaptive Budget Systems.
 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, financial documents and reports
 Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
 Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
 Define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
 Position requires leadership initiative, accuracy, diplomacy, discretion, personal judgment, professional appearance and conduct. Must be detail and process oriented, and have a high level of accounting skills.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
 This position will directly supervise accounting staff(s).
