Job Description

POSITION PROFILE (Job Summary)
This position is responsible for assisting the company in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information. Senior Accountants may also be asked to act in a lead role with the General Accounting team.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
 Performs general accounting functions including the following:
o Prepare a variety of closing journal entries for monthly financial statements.
o Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
o Maintains fixed assets in the ERP system.
o Prepare financial reports as needed.
o Assist with capital spending tracking and reporting.
o Prepare year-end audit schedules

 Performs more complex accounting functions including t he following:
o Prepare the most complex journal entries for monthly financial statements.
o Provide annual planning assistance to management and staff.
o Prepare year-end tax schedules.
o Prepare state and local tax reports which could include sales and use, property, Hawaii GET and unclaimed property.
o Provide accounting guidance to management and staff as requested.


QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Certifications)
 Bachelor’s degree required (accounting).
 Five +years related accounting experience.
 Possession of, or ability to obtain a CPA or CMA certificate is desirable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 Knowledge of corporate accounting processes.
 Excellent accounting skills including knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Financial Accounting Standards and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
 Ability to interact with various levels of management and staff throughout the organization.
 Local, state and federal tax experience preferred.
 Proven ability to apply analytical skills to problem solving.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Must be a team player.
 Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently.
 Ability to mentor/train General Accountants.
 Computer literate, with the ability to utilize standard software applications and be proficient in Windows and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

JUDGEMENT
Positions at this level have moderate decision-making authority. Actions taken by this position can impact financial reporting and require the application and interpretation of data, facts, situations, procedures and policy.

COMMUNICATION SKILL
Positions at this level have a high level of contact with management and staff throughout the organization. This position is expected to solve problems within policy guidelines while communicating with management within the division.

STRESS ON THE JOB
Positions at this level will encounter varying degrees of stress throughout the month as the financial records are closed and analyzed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

PHYSICAL EFFORT
Most work requires normal physical effort.

MANUAL DEXTERITY
Requires use of personal computer (word processing and spreadsheets) for compiling reports, statistical data, composing memoranda and other similar documents.
