Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Financial Reporting Manager is senior member of the Accounting Department and serves as a technical accounting subject matter expert for the Doyon Family of Companies (parent and subsidiary companies). The Financial Reporting Manager ensures compliance with accounting and reporting standards, including identifying and implementing new accounting standards. This position also reviews, updates and monitors the record-to-report process and associated controls.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounting
• Leading technical accounting projects for the Doyon Family of Companies, including accounting standards evaluation and implementation
• Reviewing and monitoring accounting policies, procedures and controls to ensure complete, accurate, efficient and timely record-to-report processing
• Researching and concluding on complex accounting topics for the parent as well as subsidiary companies

Financial Statements
• Reviewing internal and external financial statements for compliance with US GAAP and Company policies
• Preparation, in whole or in part, of various internal and external financial statements
• Participating in and managing multiple external audits of issued financial reports
• Preparing ad hoc financial reports and schedules for executive-level management

Additional Responsibilities
• Performing targeted review and monitoring of specific accounting processes, policies and procedures
• Leading continuing education in accounting and reporting for the Accounting Department
• Collaborating with the finance and tax teams on various financial projects
• Employee supervision responsibilities may be required
• To meet deadlines, occasional overtime (evenings and/or weekends) may be required
• Occasional overnight travel may be required
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• A minimum of six years of progressively responsible accounting experience of which two years must be in public accounting (audit or assurance)
• Advanced knowledge of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Codification and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
• Experience drafting, reviewing or auditing consolidated financial statements
• Thorough understanding of internal control processes
• Strong managerial and communication skills
• Ability to research and apply complex accounting standards

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Corporate/managerial accounting experience
• CPA license strongly preferred
• Alaska Native Corporation reporting or audit experience
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos
• Supervisory experience
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.
