Job Description

Porter & Allison, Inc. is actively seeking a full time Audit and Accounting Intern to join our growing CPA practice. Our CPA firm actively strives to create a balanced work/life atmosphere for our employees. Work is conducted either at client sites or from home. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we are working primarily remotely, but we ask that applicants be based in Anchorage or around Anchorage to be able to travel to client sites as the pandemic restrictions are alleviated.

There is opportunity for this position to transfer to full-time audit staff.

Porter & Allison, Inc.’s inception was based on the premise that the current Alaska market demands more personal and timely attention to Alaska businesses from qualified and skilled audit, tax and accounting professionals without the high overhead, administrative, and time barriers typical of larger firms. The firm’s owners, David Porter and Ben Allison, with combined public accounting experience of over 25 years throughout Alaska, come from both local and national firm environments. They have chosen to get back to that “Alaska feel” from a professional working standpoint, which they have embraced in their own personal lives.

Responsibilities:
• Executing and supporting the day-to-day functions of audit, attest, and consulting engagements with a variety of client industries.
• Develop technical knowledge and apply the firm's audit and accounting methodology to each unique engagement.
• Actively plan and participate in engagement team discussions.
• Adhere to the firm's values and code of conduct.

Requirements:
• Must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or postgraduate accounting degree from an accredited college or university or graduated with a bachelor's account degree.
• Working towards eligibility requirements to sit for the CPA exam.
• Basic knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting procedures.
• Ability to travel as needed for client engagements as needed.
