Job Description

Cook Inlet Region, Inc is seeking a talented Corporate Accountant to join our Accounting team. CIRI's offices are conveniently located in mid-town Anchorage at the Fireweed Business Center, a modern building that represents CIRI’s cultural diversity, respect for the land, and sustainability. The Fireweed Business Center reflects our heritage in the displayed Alaska Native art and interior design.

General Function

In alignment with CIRI’s mission and values responsible for accounting and reporting related to assigned industries/affiliates within the CIRI structure. Support as assigned for CIRI’s overall accounting and reporting requirements.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

1. Responsible for daily, monthly and annual accounting for designated industries and/or affiliates of CIRI. Procedures include recording monthly operating results and recurring entries, reviewing coding on invoices, reviewing monthly transaction registers, reconciling inter-company and other general ledger accounts, recording equity income to parent and review of monthly financial statements.
2. Assist in the preparation of all internal and external reports including monthly financial statements, quarterly consolidations, and year-end financial statements. Assist with various other reporting and analysis across all CIRI's diverse business segments.
3. Prepare schedules and work papers for annual financial audits of CIRI and subsidiaries.
Manage administrative functions over supporting accounting software and programs, including, but not limited to, Chrome River invoice management.
4. . Assist in payroll processing as needed.
5. Assist with annual budget compilation.
6. Assist with all forecasts and projections.
7. Monitor budget-to-actual performance on designated projects and operations; research variances from budget.
8. Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.

11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing and proofreading skills.
12. Proficient use of Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and industry-standard computer software and databases.
13. High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.

Physical Abilities

1. Sufficient fine motor skills for use of computers, calculators with an ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding for extended periods of time.
2. Visual ability adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
4. Ability to kneel, bend and twist at the waist on an occasional basis.
5. Ability to reach below shoulder height with regular frequency (desk position) and at or above shoulder height on occasion.
6. Ability to push, pull, carry and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
2. Two or more years of public accounting experience; or five or more years of accounting experience.
3. Previous payroll processing experience.
4. Public accounting experience preferred.
5. Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
6. Ability to pass a background screening.
