Are you ready to lead a team and make a real impact in accounting and tax services?
As a CPA Manager, you’ll take ownership of a variety of accounting and tax assignments while guiding a team of professionals to deliver high-quality work. You’ll oversee the organization and coordination of client tax data, ensuring that individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and trust returns are accurate and completed on time.
This role allows you to apply your technical expertise, mentor staff, and contribute strategically to client engagements and firm operations. Success in this role comes from your ability to manage complex assignments, lead a team, and deliver exceptional results.
Your day-to-day: In this role, you’ll balance leadership, client service, and hands-on accounting work. You’ll oversee your team in making adjusting entries, preparing trial balances and financial statements, and reconciling accounts, while also managing depreciation schedules, property and equipment computations, and accruals.
You’ll ensure audits, reviews, and compilations are completed accurately and efficiently, and guide staff in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns. A significant portion of your day will be spent reviewing client-submitted information, addressing questions, conducting tax research, and proofreading financial statements and tax documents.
You’ll communicate with clients regarding invoices and fees, assist with collections, and ensure confidentiality in all client matters. Along the way, you’ll coach and mentor staff, manage timelines and deadlines, and keep projects moving smoothly, all while following firm policies and procedures and maintaining a culture of integrity and accountability.
We’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of forty hours of continuing professional education is expected each year.
If a CPA license is held, it meets the minimum hours of continuing professional education each year as required by the State where the CPA license was received, the AICPA, and any designations held by the senior. Typically, at least forty hours/year are expected
Proficiency with computers, spreadsheet software programs, general office equipment, keyboarding, and 10-key
Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and personal income taxes
Either hold a current certified public accountant’s license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the CPA exam
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Team player with a positive ‘can-do’ approach
Strong communication skills
A general and growing knowledge of the firm’s products and services
A general understanding of market trends, including opportunities and global and local business initiatives
Know the rules and regulations for practice in the State of Alaska, IRS Circular 230, and Code of Conduct of the AICPA’s Rules of Ethics
Have a working knowledge of the various professional standards of the AICPA and the FASB as they apply to the Firm’s clients
