*CANCELLED* SEC Rule - The Enhancement & Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosure for Investors Lunch & Learn Webcast (SEC)

The Securities and Exchange Commission, after two years of deliberation, adopted a new rule entitled The Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosure for Investors. The new rule is far reaching in setting forth requirements as to material climate-related disclosure affecting registration of securities offerings and filing of various reports under the Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, respectively. The rule was immediately challenged in multiple lawsuits by various states and by energy related companies and environmental groups. The effectiveness of the rule has been stayed by the 5th Circuit of the US Court of Appeals. If allowed to become effective, the rule significantly expands that which may be considered material climate-related risks in need of disclosure under these federal securities acts.

Mr. Brecht is Of Counsel to, and an attorney in private practice with, the law firm of Manley Brautigam Bankston P.C., with offices in Anchorage, AK. Mr. Brechts concentration of practice is in state and federal securities law, corporate and business law. He is a former director of the Alaska Division of Banking and Securities and, prior to coming to Alaska, worked as a physicist for the National Space Science Data Center, a part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
