Job Description:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the primary function will be to oversee all equipment costing, budgeting, reporting and rate development practices internally. Additional responsibilities include the ability to draft ad hoc and formal analysis pieces for both internal and external stakeholders in a timely fashion.
Accountabilities:
• Communicate and provide shop and equipment cost / variance analysis to stakeholders which include the executive as well as the board of directors
• Prepares Budgets, Reporting Packages and Forecasts for the Equipment department
• Works with Finance, Operations and Equipment to ensure equipment costs are appropriately coded and accounted for
• Oversees the annual calculation and revision process for the internal equipment rates
• Develops, tracks and reports on various equipment metrics including usage and utilization
Responsibilities:
• Designs and implements advanced costing systems and reports
• Provides support to the estimating and operations group regarding equipment costs, escalations and contract terms
• Sets and maintains lifecycle benchmarks for the equipment fleet
• Implements and maintains a process to analyze costs by unit, fleet and cost types
• Ensures the internal rates are updated in a timely fashion and accurately reflect the costs for owning and operating the equipment
• Ensures the budget and forecasts for the equipment department are updated in a timely fashion and are an accurate reflection of the costs required to own, maintain and repair the equipment fleet as required to meet the production objectives
• Maintain detailed records of all equipment purchases, including cost, acquisition date and useful life
• Supports the Capital Expenditure budget and forecast process on an as needed basis
• Ensure the equipment fleet utilization reporting is updated in a timely fashion (monthly/quarterly/annually) and is monitored to budget/forecast targets
• Analyzes machine life cycle cost behavior concerning: depreciation, cost of capital, repair costs, shop costs, servicing costs, utilization and fleet optimal mix
• Oversees and optimizes shop and equipment budgets to cost segments for rate build up including understanding cost drivers
• Maintains and annually updates equipment rates, including:
o Update model for equipment rate calculations
o Determine what costs should be included in rates
o Oversees rate updates into ERP and other systems used for administration of equipment charges and cost recoveries
o Prepares annual package and communicates to stakeholders
• Conduct cost analysis on historical costs by unit, rate group and type of costs
• Provides ongoing analysis of actual costs and recommends adjustments
• Leads department initiatives as directed by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from inception to completion
• Assist with internal and external audits related to equipment assets

• Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
• Excellent English (spoken / written / grammar / punctuation)
Educational and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum of 3 years analyst or equipment cost accounting experience
• Experience with Sage 300 is preferred but not required
Other Information:
• Full-time – 40 hours a week (Monday – Friday)
