Job Description

Coastal Villages Region Fund is currently seeking applications for a Senior Accountant to work in our corporate office in Anchorage, Alaska. The primary job responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, responsible assisting with projects and analysis designed to aid management in better understanding the financial data that drives our business, improve our budgeting and the real-time tracking of our performance, and enable operations and management to make better decisions as a result.

Specific Duties May Include:

Budget Preparation and Analysis:
Annually, assist with the preparation of the company-wide budget.
Monthly, support in distribution & maintenance of reports, research & resolution of questions from department heads, preparation of reclass entries as needed, & routine scrubs for coding errors.
Internal Reporting
Assist with the development & timely deployment of reports containing accounting data from either the GL or various modules as requested
Assist with review of routine reports to ensure their completeness & accuracy
Accounting Support:
Perform monthly close tasks and complete reconciliations as assigned by the deadline. Serve as backup/support for other accounting groups to cover close tasks & reconciliations as needed.
Communicate and train those responsible for coding (AP, Purchasing, and Department Heads) in order to align actual expenses with budgeted line items.
Be able to work in a capacity to answer coding questions and help create new processes to improve department workflows.
Other projects & duties as assigned: Responsible for assisting with projects as they arise that aid data capture, accounting efficiency, due diligence, internal reporting, and supporting the needs of the accounting department and company as they evolve over time.
This position reports directly to the Financial Analysis Manager.

Starting Wage: DOE – Status: Exempt – Full-time

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Minimum of 3-5 years hands-on accounting experience with demonstrated progressive responsibility. Significant working experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Vena experience is a plus. Demonstrated ability to research & resolve problems, making recommendations for correction. Understanding of cross-functional departments and the business impacts on accounting. Should possess an ability to learn, teach others, and work collaboratively within a team environment. A high regard for accuracy and attention to detail, along with strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines is required. Must possess the ability to represent the company and accounting department in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing. Must have a strong working knowledge of MS EXCEL to include advanced functionalities (vlookups, pivots, and sumifs, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

In order to successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to effectively remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, communicate with others in person and over the phone, and move about inside the office. This position requires the ability to sit, effectively use hands and fingers, talk and listen, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally this position may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is also a requirement.

Work Environment:

This position is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and florescent lighting. It requires the regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
